How to Start Homeschooling with Christ-Centered Academy

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6

You have been thinking about homeschooling. Maybe for weeks, maybe for years. Maybe something happened at your child's school that you cannot ignore any longer. Maybe you have always known, deep down, that God was calling your family to something different. Whatever brought you here — welcome. You are not alone, and you do not need a teaching degree. God will equip you.

Step 1: Create Your Free Account

Visit [/auth-chirho/register-chirho](/auth-chirho/register-chirho) and create a parent account. You will set up a family profile that lets you add each of your children. The entire platform is free — no credit card, no trial period, no hidden fees. "Freely you have received; freely give" (Matthew 10:8).

Step 2: Pick Your Grade Level

Each child can be assigned to a grade level from K through 12. If you are unsure where your child belongs, do not worry. Our placement assessments help you find the right starting point. It is better to start slightly below level and build confidence than to start too high and create frustration.

You can adjust grade levels at any time. Navigate to [/school-chirho](/school-chirho) to explore the full course catalog.

Step 3: Start with Bible — Always First

Every single day at Christ-Centered Academy begins with Bible. This is non-negotiable in our schedule, and we encourage you to make it non-negotiable in your home. Before mathematics, before science, before any academic subject — open the Word of God together.

> "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." — Matthew 6:33

Our Bible curriculum moves through Scripture systematically, with memory verses, reading plans, and discussion questions designed for each age group.

Step 4: Follow the Daily Schedule

The platform generates a daily schedule for each student. Grammar-stage students (K–6) have shorter lessons of 15–20 minutes per subject, following Charlotte Mason's wisdom about the attention spans of young learners. Logic-stage students (7–9) work in 30–45 minute blocks. Rhetoric-stage students (10–12) handle longer, more independent study periods.

A typical day looks like this:

  1. Bible — Reading, memory verse, prayer
  2. Mathematics — Lesson and practice problems
  3. Language Arts — Reading, writing, grammar
  4. History or Science — Alternating or daily depending on grade
  5. Electives — Music, art, trades, foreign language

You do not need to follow the schedule rigidly. Life happens. Grace abounds. But having a structure helps both you and your children know what to expect.

Step 5: Use Printable Tests

Every unit includes printable quizzes and tests. You can administer these on paper, grade them yourself using our answer keys, and keep a physical record of your child's progress. This is especially helpful for families in states that require documentation, and it gives you a tangible sense of how your child is growing.

Step 6: Join the Community

Homeschooling does not mean isolating. Our community forums connect you with other Christ-centered families. Share encouragement, ask questions, organize local co-ops, and pray for one another. "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together" (Hebrews 10:24–25).

You Are More Qualified Than You Think

The world will tell you that you are not qualified to teach your own children. That is a lie. God gave you these children. He entrusted them to you — not to the state, not to a bureaucracy, not to a curriculum committee that does not know your child's name.

> "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." — Deuteronomy 6:6–7

You will make mistakes. Every teacher does. But you have something no school can offer: you love your child with a love that reflects the Father's love. That is the foundation on which all real education is built.

Start today. [Create your account](/auth-chirho/register-chirho) and take the first step. God will meet you there.
