God Made the Sky and Water
"And God said, 'Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.'" — Genesis 1:6
Day Two
On the second day, God continued His wonderful work of creation. He spoke again and made the sky — that beautiful blue expanse we see when we look up.
The Bible calls it a "vault" or "expanse." God used it to separate the waters. Some water stayed below (the oceans and seas), and some water went above (the clouds that hold rain).
Look Up!
Have you ever looked up at the sky on a clear day? That deep, beautiful blue stretching from horizon to horizon — God made that! He spoke it into existence.
And have you watched clouds? Those white, fluffy shapes floating overhead carry water that will one day fall as rain to water the earth. God designed this whole system on Day 2.
God's Order Continues
Notice how God works in an orderly way:
- Day 1: Light and darkness (time)
- Day 2: Sky and water (space above and below)
God is building a home — a beautiful, orderly home for the creatures He will soon create. He is a God of order, not chaos (1 Corinthians 14:33).
What This Teaches Us
- God provides — He made water for all living things to drink
- God plans ahead — He was preparing Earth as a home
- God's creation is beautiful — The sky declares His glory (Psalm 19:1)
- God works in order — Step by step, day by day
